Engineering Manager
Our manufacturing client based in Wood Dale, IL , specializing in custom product development through standard modular design and construction methods, is in search of an Engineering Manager.
The role involves efficient management of the engineering team, oversight of custom development projects, and collaboration with other departments to provide cost-effective solutions to our customers.
Position Overview:
As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of our engineering team.
Your role includes assigning and reviewing custom development projects, mentoring the team, and ensuring the development of flexible and cost-effective solutions.
You will actively collaborate with other departments, lead troubleshooting efforts, and provide innovative solutions to challenges.
Key
Responsibilities:
Assign and review custom development projects, considering complexity and timelines.
Mentor and guide the engineering team in adherence to OPTO's modular design and construction methods.
Collaborate daily with other departments to optimize solutions and troubleshoot issues.
Oversee engineering, estimating, and order entry processes.
Work closely with the sales team on custom product development.
Enhance existing products and support new product development initiatives.
Ensure adherence to design standards and procedures while optimizing manufacturing techniques.
Manage the creation of 3D models, coordinate with manufacturing partners, and source materials as needed.
Engage in project design, cost estimation, and maintenance of bills of materials.
Ideal
Experience:
Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or design.
8
years' experience in engineering or wood/metal/glass manufacturing.
Extensive knowledge of materials, including wood, metal, plastics, glass, etc.
Proficiency in 3D Solid Modeling.
Experience with Bill of Material creation and structure for ERP software.
Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and guide the team to profitable solutions.
Quick and effective problem-solving skills.
